COVID-19 Remembrance at Temecula Duck Pond

Here's a message from the City of Temecula:

The white flags that served as a temporary COVID-19 Remembrance at the Temecula Duck Pond throughout 2021 will be honorably removed over the next several days. Temecula residents who requested a customized flag that flew throughout the year to memorialize their loved ones who died from COVID-19 are invited to a COVID Remembrance Flag Ceremony on Thursday, October 21st at 7pm at City Hall to receive their loved one’s flag in person.

Temecula Mayor Maryann Edwards states that a permanent bench will be placed at the Duck Pond as a reflective space with a plaque that recalls how the citizens of Temecula withstood the hardships of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, “We will never forget how strong our City stood amid this difficult and historic time.” Edwards adds, “We are stepping into the future with kindness and determination in our hearts; and this bench will give us all a moment and place to pause and reflect.”
