Today is International Women's Day and we are celebrating by featuring female artists today, including a rock icon on "Dwight's Daily Dose of New Music"
Many credit The Runaways as the first all female hard rock band. While they weren't actually the first, they were the first to make a huge impact on women's rock and rock and roll in general.
The leader of that band has gone on to a very successful solo career. Joan Jett is a rock icon as a singer, write and guitarist and deserves, in my opinion to be on the preverbal Mount Rushmore of Rock.
