Guest Blogger Jeremy Reviews The Recent Depeche Mode Concert He Won Tix To

As you know if you listen, we give away a lot of tickets during "More Music in the Morning" and I always like to ask ticket winners, if they will write a review of the concert we gave them tickets.

Occasionally I even reward them for being a "guest blogger" for me. Radio 94/5 listener Jeremy did just that with the tickets he won for Depeche Mode....and this time Jeremy is being rewarded- with a pair of tickets to see Matchbox 20 on May 28th!

Here is the review and photos from guest blogger Jeremy:

Depeche Mode live at the Kia forum. What better way to celebrate Easter than with your own Personal Jesus. The pillars of the stadium were adorned with the lyrics of some of their greatest hits. At the end of this epic journey through parking lots and crowds of some of LA’s finest crazy street people with megaphones, we found our seats and saw a fantastic energetic and emotional show. This is the first time they have performed in California since the death of Andy Fletcher. Dave Gahan dances all over the stage in a somber melancholy. Dave has this gift of being able to turn dark depressing feelings like existential dread into energy. The pain and loss he has felt doesn’t depress him so much as it motivates him to move forward. The crowd was diverse in age, race and walks of life. Zoomers, millennials, gen Xers, and boomers. And of course there were punk rockers, goths and what appear to be hard-core bondage enthusiasts. The kinky mix one would expect. Literally, everyone sang along to “enjoy the silence”. At that point Dave Gahan stepped away from the microphone and let the crowd carry the chorus over Martin Gore’s iconic guitar riff. They had this look of pride as if they knew, in that moment, that their music had transcended generations. Their songs have become more than songs, they're actually woven into a collective cultural tapestry immortalizing them for all time. It was a hell of a concert in which they faced death, and caught a glimpse at their legacy, the immortality from their impact on humanity. This was followed by a 20 minute encore. They tried to fake us out, but the crowd knew better. And then we heard the drum beat for Personal Jesus and the giant M lit back up in a finale that was oddly befitting of the Easter holiday. All in all it was an amazing show. Depeche Mode is as amazing and iconic now as ever.
