My night out with my friend from Singapore, Karen "It's Never Wrong with Wong" who lived in So Cal for a very long time before moving back home started off spectacularly. She's back in town visiting and she turned me on to #TheMothershipBarNorthPark.
NOTE: I did not receive anything free, nor was I given any special discounts to write this blog. I paid the same as you would if you went to The Mothership during what they call "hyper hour".
From outside the place looks very nondescript. It is a sort of speakeasy in North park, near downtown San Diego. I've have been to several of these kinds of themed bars, but this one was the best yet.
First, (and during our current heat wave this is important), the place has good air conditioning. The atmosphere is as chill as the AC and the drinks are tasty and very creative. We did not try the food during our visit, but from what we saw on the other tables, we will try the food next time.
There was amazing attention to detail of the space theme. Even the bathroom looked like something you'd see at Disneyland! I've never taken a photo of a bathroom before, but thought you all would be impressed, so it is part of the photo collection below.
