For Throwback Thursday I present the cheap little old car that got me through college. It was an old VW Rabbit with a 4 speed manual transmission, (who drives those anymore?), that I bought at an auto auction through a car dealer friend of mine. It wasn't getting any bids because, even though the miles were relatively low, there was a big dent in the door. So I got this car CHEAP- perfect for a poor guy in college.
When I attended Palomar College (shout out to those of you who can hear and listen to Radio 94/5 in parts of San Marcos), one of the classes I took, (and eventually got certified as an auto refinisher), was auto body and refinishing. I fixed and repainted the car and drove it the entire time I was in college.
It turned out to be a great economical second vehicle so I ended up keeping it for 11 years, before I sold it and got more than I originally paid for it!
It may not have been fancy...but it was the best car deal I ever did!
I wonder where that car is now...
