America Marks Veterans Day Today

Today is Veterans Day, the day set aside to honor the millions who have worn the United States Armed Forces uniform. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, more than 40 million men and women have served in the military over the course of the nation's history. Today, the total number of living U.S. veterans is estimated at right around 18 million.

The photo here is of my dad, Jack E. Arnold (RIP) when he entered his miltary service at age 18 in 1944. He was stationed in Texas and his duty was to guard German prisoners of war.

He also was in training to be a paratrooper and would have been part of an invasion force had the U.S. had to invade Japan in 1945. The atomic bomb changed all that....

If you have a chance, thank a veteran for their service today.
