Mountain High Closure Update

Yesterday I exchanged messages with John McColley from Mountain High and this morning I received a new update from the resport on what is going on:

Mountain High Resorts is temporarily closed due to storm damage on Highway 2, with no reopening for a couple of weeks, and you're advised to sign up for the Powder Alert Newsletter for updates.

Dear Mountain High Friends,

While we were able to get off to one of the fastest starts in California a month ago, we have been dealt a tough blow with massive rain and road closures, specifically on Highway 2. This has forced us to close temporarily. We are, of course, doing everything we can to reopen as quickly as possible.

As you know, Mountain High is part of the Cali Pass Resorts, which include three terrific mountains in the Central and Northern Sierras - China Peak (skichinapeak.comOpens new window), Dodge Ridge (dodgeridge.comOpens new window) and Bear Valley (bearvalley.comOpens new window). Beginning Monday, 12/29, BASE PASS HOLDERS RECEIVE FREE SKIING at these resorts, until Mountain High reopens. Simply, present your 2025/26 Mountain High Base Pass at Guest Service to receive your ticket.

Both China PeakOpens new window and Bear Valley Opens new windowhave on-site lodging, and all three resorts offer lodging in nearby towns, including Shaver Lake (China Peak), Sonora or Twain Harte (Dodge Ridge), and Arnold, Murphy's, or Angel's Camp (Bear Valley).

Please take this opportunity to sample our great High Sierra resorts until we are able to reopen. For the most up-to-date information, follow us on social media or sign up for our Powder Alert Newsletter.Opens new window Thank you for your patience. We can’t wait to welcome you back with fresh snow and new terrain.
