RuPaul is having one hell of a week. First, the famed drag icon was announced as the host of Justin Bieber's upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live and now she, along with VH1, has announced the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12.
On Thursday (January 23), all of the new queens were revealed in a patriotic trailer and, as usual, it looks like we're in store for plenty of nerve, charisma and talent. "My fellow Americans, RuPaul's Drag Race season 12 is here," Ru says during the promo in a eye-popping blue dress, before we get our first look at the batch of queens. "Mama Ru needs you to pledge allegiance to the drag." Among the 13 contestants include Aiden Zhane, Brita, Crystal Methyd, Dahlia Sin, Gigi Goode, Heidi N Closet, Jackie Cox, Jaida Essence Hall, Jan, Nicky Doll, Rock M. Sakura, Sherry Pie, and Widow Von’Du.
"With each new generation of queens, the RuPaul’s Drag Race revolution continues to drive culture," RuPaul said in an official statement. "And as more and more new viewers discover the show, the phenomenon continues to open hearts and minds with love, laughter and a whole lotta sass."
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 premieres February 28 at 8/7c on VH1, followed by a new season of Untucked at 9:30/8:30c.
