Coheed and Cambria's tradition of blending intricate storytelling with epic music continues with their latest album, The Father of Make Believe.
The band's new album is their eleventh and serves as the third installment in the Vaxis narrative, part of their expansive sci-fi universe known as The Armory Wars — the first two installments being 2018's The Unheavenly Creatures and A Window of the Waking Mind released in 2022.
In a statement, the band's Claudio Sanchez explained of The Father of Make Believe, "This record is a midlife crisis. I realized, 20-some-odd years in, I was struggling with the brand I've given myself: Am I satisfied being the science fiction rock ’n' roll guy when so much of my material comes from personal experiences?"
The Father of Make Believe showcases 14 new songs, including "Someone Who Can." Sanchez explained of the song, "When you're growing up, you're perpetually trying to understand the world that’s changing around you. Over time, it’s comforting to reach the conclusion that you’ll never truly have things figured out."
Coheed and Cambria will kick off their co-headlining tour with Taking Back Sunday on August 16t In St. Louis, and will make stops across the country including Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and more, before wrapping up in Seattle on September 21st.
