Video footage from the scene of the crash that led to 5-star USC Trojans basketball prospect Alijah Arenas, the son of NBA legend Gilbert Arenas, being placed in an induced coma has been released.

The clip, which was obtained and shared by TMZ Sports, was recorded by a neighbor at around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday (April 24) and showed the Tesla driven by Arenas, 18, engulfed in flames as a fire hydrant spewed water after being struck by the vehicle. Arenas who played in the McDonald's All-American game earlier this month and announced his commitment to USC in January, was reportedly rushed to a Los Angeles hospital in "serious condition," while the Cybertruck was described as being "completely mangled on the side of the road," and "ablaze" when emergency responders reported to the scene.

ESPN's Shams Charania broke the story on Arenas' induced coma on Thursday.

"Five-star prospect and USC commit Alijah Arenas was involved in a serious car crash early Thursday morning, hospitalized and placed into an induced coma, sources tell ESPN. Arenas, 18, is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas," Charania wrote on his X account.

Arenas ranks as the No. 1 shooting guard, No. 2 player from the state of California and the No. 7 overall prospect for the 2025 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, which tabulates rankings from the industry's top recruiting websites.
