Last night I went to one of my favorite venues to go into... or hang outside of (in a kayak or a boat)- Humphrey's... always fun to go there.
Edgar Winter opened with "Free Ride" and closed with "Frankenstein"....Eric Burden opened with "Spill the Wine" and ended with "We Gotta Get Out of This Place"...and through the middle of both sets the artists and bands performed like rockers much younger than their actual age.
It was the crowd that was the "geezerfest"....I knew seeing bands like this that I would be younger than the average audience member, but this crowd was not only old..they ACTED old.... If you go to a rock show..don't you go there to "rock"? Both artists couldn't get the crowd on their feet until their last song, and audience embers who jumped up to dance or move closer earlier than that were treated with disdain and actual rudeness from the old fart crowd.
It's a shame that while onstage Winter and Burden where keeping rock alive, while the audience that came to seem them seem to want to bury it.
Regardless of the crowds actions, the concert goers around me (and those in the lagoon outside) still managed to have a great time.
