Candidate Responds to Bahia Point Controversy

Those of you who have been following my show and my blog know that I am passionate about keeping part of the beach access down in Mission Bay public.

There is a proposed expansion of the Bahia Hotel that will take away most of the parking and public access to most of Bahia Point. Families have been coming to this area to enjoy the bay with kayaks, boats, paddle boards and family activities for over 50 years now.

We asked candidate for District 2 (which includes the Bahia Point area) Dr Jennifer Campbell for her position on this. Here is her response:

"It's entirely predictable that the Evans Hotel group feels empowered to try to push through this expansion without any public input and the barest minimum of oversight by the City Council. The mayor's office and their planning department are enabling this proposal to skate by without any local input and get it in front of the Coastal Commission as fast as possible. This shows how much we need change in City Hall and leaders who will defend public access to our beaches and bays now, and for generations to come."

Jennifer Campbell, MD, Candidate

San Diego City Council, District 2

Being properly informed is important. Elections matter.... and if you know anyone in District 2, please forward this to them before November.
