What: Waterfront Concert at Embarcadero Park, San Diego 6/23/18
Slightly Stoopid performing great as always on their home turf.
Fishbone- always fun and full of energy and this time their all original lineup.
Pepper played well... although they tried too hard to work the crowd.
The crowd size...had to be well beyond 10,000- the fullest I've seen ANY event in this venue.
"Beer Jail"- the beer sampling area was WAY back from the stage and people had to stay behind barricades to drink any adult beverage. The beer lines were SO ridiculously long, we left and went to the Claim Jumper across the street to have our adult beverages.
The weather- gray and cold all day and COLDER as the sun went down...NOT a good day for an outdoor concert.
As you can see in one of the pics below the entrance was set up to accommodate many lines of entry...and only half of them were used for some reason, making getting in a real UGLY experience. The poor execution at the gate and the fact that the ran out of wristbands and made hundreds of people stand and wait while they had to go get more wristbands showed some seriously poor planning.
No video screens- this missing investment made the concert virtually unable to be seen by half the crowd....
If you REALLY like the bands...go. The sound was good. But if you want to go mostly to enjoy the beer tasting, find another event that doesn't make it such a hassle ..and that doesn't punish you for having an adult beverage by not allowing you to be anywhere near the stage while enjoy your drinks....unless, of course, you pay extra to be in VIP....
