Friday afternoon update:
The meeting with Conrad Wear from Councilmember Lorie Zapf’s office is confirmed for tomorrow (Saturday) at noon. Hopefully some of you can make it, but if not, there should be plenty of users anxious to talk to him. Lorie Zapf herself will not be there, but is interested in setting up a visit in August.
For both meetings, we will gather just past the restrooms on Bahia Point.
Local activists are attempting to meet with local politicians this week to discuss public access to Bahia Point on Mission Bay. The Bahia Hotel is proposing an expansion that would eliminate public parking on Bahia point and deny access to those who like park to paddle board , kayak, boat, and have family outings that have been going on for generations.
District 2 candidate Dr Jen Campbell will meet with activist at Bahia Point starting around 3:30 Friday. (7/20) and the activist group is trying to get District 2 incumbent Lorie Zapf to attend on Saturday (7/21) According to one activist group member, Conrad Wear from Council member Zapf’s office committed to coming down on Saturday, but they do not have confirmation from him nor a time for the meeting. They still do not know if Ms. Zapf will be attending with him.
If you use, or want to keep Bahia Point public, I urge you to learn more...perhaps even show up for these meetings to show your support. Once this area designated for the public is gone...it will be gone forever.
