Home Help #5: Slow Drainng Pipes

Continuing our series of Home Help Questions with answers coming from NOT ME but from professionals who know what they are talking about.

Whether you own or rent your home, these questions are helpful, and could save you a great deal of money...

Question #5 What should you do if your sewer lines back up or you suffer from constant slow draining of sinks and tubs?

Answer: Sewer lines are frequently subject to clogs or slow draining due to build-up in the pipe. While build-up is not completely avoidable, there are things which contribute to it. The most common instances are when grease is poured in the disposal while running hot water. The back up can lead to bigger problems.

Pouring chemicals into your drains are not always the best long term answer. Also, if you can determine that the problem is a sewer line, trying to fix it on your own cold lead to much bigger problems. Digging into the ground to find the sewer pipe section, could inadvertently damage other underground pipes and lines. If you determine that sewer line work is necessary, your best bet is to contact a professional.

If you can't determine the source of the water the problem on your own, you can always call our friends at ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing at 951-253-4332 or visit them online at:
