Throw Back Thursday August 23 1966

On this day in 1966 the Beatles performed their final US Tour concert of the year at Shea Stadium.

Here are a few little known facts about this concert:

It did NOT sell out.....11,000 of the 55,000 seat stadium were empty.

The band was paid $189,000 for the concert- much more than the previous year concert at the same venue which did sell out.

This was the final U.S. tour of the Beatles...soon they would stop touring altogether and focus more time in the studio...
