Concert Review: Watching Prog Rock- from a Kayak

Recently I attended the concert of prog rock giants "Yes" at Humphrey's....well not exactly...I watched the concert from the marina next to Humphrey's sitting in a kayak in the water. This water viewing tradition has been going on since Yes was a new up and coming band decades ago.

I must admit one thing up front...I was not a prog rock" fan in the 70's..Although you may think I was a stoner, I actually was not, and my tastes were a bit different...I was into ZZ Top and Aerosmith until I discovered this "New Wave" music then I was all about Devo, the Clash and XTC....

I did attend the concert, (meaning we paddled over in our 2 kayaks together), with my good friend Chris. He was a fan of that genre at the time and still is...also being a musician himself, Chris explained to me the intricacy of both the arrangements and playing of these talented artists.

The usually boisterous "water crowd" was pretty quiet..intently watching and listening to the show...after all these years Yes can still captivate their audience.

Pictures of our Yes-kayak-adventure are below...
