Happy Birthday Joe Perry & My First Aerosmith Show

Happy 69th birthday to half of the Toxic Twins and legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

I have seen Aerosmith many times over the years, but my very first time was at Cal Jam 2. I was in high school and hadn't even thought about a radio career yet, but for some reason, I wanted to be backstage...who knew I'd make Backstage Pass interviews a centerpiece of my career.

I used my ASB card to sneak by security and get backstage and hung out for a couple of hours...I stood there a few feet away from rock star bands like Heart and Aerosmith, but I had already used up the film in my camera (remember when you only had 12 or 20 shots?). I had used up my film taking pictures of the custom vans that carried the bands from where they landed via helicopter to the backstage area.

When Joe Perry and Aerosmith hit the stage I went back out front as they were one of my favorite bands on the lineup...and although backstage was my favorite place to be...I wanted to rejoin my friends...below is some actual footage of part of that Aerosmith performance:
