The sad passing of Buzzcocks founder and solo artist Pete Shelley are already pouring out throughout the music world.
Here is one from a close friend of mine, music insider Liza Kumjian-Smith. You can seee her in the photo with him take last year....
I met Pete Shelley in 1991, and we've been good friends ever since. Pete showed me how to send my first email. He had a computer under his stairs at his house on York Road in London, and he was so excited to show me how he could send out notices about his gigs and new releases to hundreds of fans all at once using this new thing call "email". I was very impressed. Pete was always on the cutting edge of new technology.
Of course we all know him as the lead singer of the Buzzcocks and equally love his big hits from his solo career as well, but Pete was more than just a musician. He was an interesting character with a huge personality.
I took these photos of him in 1994 at the Phoenix Festival in England. I have hundreds more photos I have taken of him with the Buzzcocks over the years, but I love these in particular because he looks so darn happy.
I will miss you Pete
