Passion Project: Virginia Stratton

Several weeks ago, I chatted with, and blogged about. the Passion Project for Mike Veale- the President and Founder of Global Conservation Force.

Mike maintains the operations, manages the volunteer teams in their respective avenues, pursue fundraising and maintains primary business functions of the non-profit. He also personally works abroad alongside the ranger teams catching poachers, working with informants and tackling the wildlife traffickers.

Mike spends a great deal of his time in the wilds all over the world, so he needs local help.... Virginia Stratton has become that local help.

Virginia took her passion and love for animals and turned that passion into action by joining the GCF team. She will be our local representation and voice for GCF events in the Temecula Valley in 2019.

I will be interviewing Virgina soon about her local work with the Global Conservation Force and an important event coming up locally in February:

Global Conservation Force (GCF) plans to hold a fundraiser for pangolin conservation and protection, hosted by Pinot’s Palette Temecula. The event will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 - World Pangolin Day - from 3:00-5:00pm at the Temecula location. Attendees will paint their own pangolin-themed masterpiece with provided artist instruction.

Global Conservation Force is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving wildlife from extinction through education, anti-poaching and conservation efforts. They’ve partnered with various organizations across Africa and Asia to support the conservation, protection, and community education for pangolins.

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world. These ‘scaly anteaters’ are fascinating mammals covered head-to-toe in overlapping keratin scales. By using large front claws and an incredibly long & sticky tongue, pangolins hunt and survive on a diet of ants and termites. Each of the 8 species share these common characteristics, as well as a rapidly declining population duet o poaching. GCF representatives will be present to provide information and answer any questions. Refreshments and GCF merchandise will be available for purchase. Admission includes all painting supplies, your painting to take home and a limited-edition GCF pangolin sticker. Ticket scan be purchased through Pinot’s Pallete - online through their website.
