"Light It Up Yellow & Blue" Presented for Down Syndrome Awareness Day

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is observed annually on March 21st .

This day was chosen to symbolize the third copy of chromosome 21 in Trisomy 21, the most common form.

The City of Temecula will Light it Up Yellow & Blue in recognition of Down Syndrome Awareness at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at City Hall (41000 Main Street).

At this early evening gathering, individuals and families with Down syndrome participate in activities and events to raise public awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

Mayor Naggar said, “There was no question in my mind when we were approached to Light it Up for World Down Syndrome Day. We want our community and families touched by Down syndrome to know that Temecula LOVES them! We have created a community that embraces people of all unique abilities and are honored to celebrate them on World Down Syndrome Day!”

This inaugural World Down Syndrome Day at City Hall will include special guests and surprise performances. For more information, please contact Temecula Community Services Department at (951) 694-6464
