10 Years ago today I met Adam Lambert. It wasn't at a press gathering or backstage at a concert.......
Back then, people were just getting to know who Adam Lambert was. He was the shockingly-more-talented-than-any-other-contestant on American idol. No one came close that season....but that's another story.....
When A.I. gets down near the end of their season, they do the "going home" segments with the finalists. Being from the San Diego area, Adam's segments were filmed in around where he grew up. One of those places was Mission Beach......
Those of you who know me or read my blogs know that I do a lot of biking the MB / PB Boardwalk. One this particular day I was riding by myself. I had stopped to sit on the wall across from Hamels to kick back for a few, when I looked over my shoulder and saw a limo pull into the cul de sac there. As I wheeled around from looking at the beach, out steps Adam.
I had been watching the show and was rooting for Adam, so I walked over and as he walked towards the ice cream stand I stepped up and told him what a great job he was doing and that he was representing SoCal well. He actually seemed a little shy at the time, but we did chat for a couple of minutes....but after a couple of minutes everyone else noticed Adam was there and the big crowd started to form....
So I quickly pulled out my lousy phone and took a couple of lousy selfies....at least they came out so you can see.
Right after the I took the second selfies Adam was engulfed by others asking questions and asking for autographs and he was swallowed up by the crowd...so I got back on my bike and rode on....
BTW..it's National Bike month, so this counts as my 2nd "Bike Blog" of the month...
There's more to the story, but you'll have to ask me in person to find that out...
