Movie Review: "Knives Out"- The Good, the Bad, the Recommendation

During the week of 12/2- 12/6 I'll be giving away movie tickets to the Reading Cinemas in Murrieta, so I've been getting ahead on seeing and reviewing movie for you.

Being that I am somewhat alone and unattached on Thanksgiving, I talked my buddy Chris into going to see a T Day morning film.

The film was "Knives Out"-

The Good- This film is a very smart murder mystery with an all star cast. The whodunit "Knives Out" is an A-list-turned-slay-list party starring Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, Chris Evans and Jamie Lee Curtis. It's fun to watch super-serious actors get to misbehave. Great performances are turned in by all, but the man that carries this film is Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, a detective sent to investigate the death of a renowned author named Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). His "CSI KFC Foghorn Leghorn" persona (he's actually called that by the character played by Chris Evans), is so out of the norm for the British actor that at first, you keep listening for the accent to break and the Brit to break through...it never does. Craig is brilliant as the person who tells, re-tells, and finalizes telling how the mystery plays out.

The Bad- This is not a high action film...I only mention this so that if your inclinations are to see a movie with lots of bombs exploding and violence, that this may not be for you.

The Recommendation- If you like "smart" movies that force you to think...this is a great film. If you like mysteries that have more twists and turns than any movie pretzel I've eaten, this is a great film for you. The final plus that makes this a HIGH recommended film, is that it is also hilarious.

Now playing at the Angelika Theater and the Reading Cinema in Murrieta.
