On this day in 1978 the largest audience to ever attend a live rock concert in the state of California took place at the now long gone Ontario Motor Speedway.
Cal Jam 2 dwarves any Coachella crowd size with an estimated 350,000 people all attended in one day.
Aerosmith, Foreigner, Heart, Ted Nugent, Bob Welch, Dave Mason, Santana and many other bands were all flown in to the speedway by helicopter and the headliners all had custom painted vans to drive them from the heli-pad to the stage...as you can see in the photos..
Cal Jam is still the largest and loudest (highest decibel) outdoor concert in California history.
