On Veterans Day this Thursday there will be a parade.
Here are the details from the City of Murrieta:
The City of Murrieta will host its 19th Annual Veterans Day Parade! On Thursday, November 11 at 10 a.m., the patriotic celebration will begin in Downtown Murrieta with the singing of the national anthem and a flyover.
The parade will then start on Washington Avenue and will conclude at Town Square Park with the Murrieta Rotary’s Field of Honor. The Field of Honor will feature more than 2,000 full-sized American flags honoring both local and national heroes.
This year’s Veterans Day Parade grand marshal will be Tim Lickness. Tim and his wife Barbie have been residents of Murrieta since 2012. Tim served as an infantry platoon leader with the 7th Infantry Division in Korea in 1967 and as an airborne infantry platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam in 1968. Tim is a retired lawyer and former law school professor. Tim serves as director and secretary of the Murrieta Veterans Memorial Foundation, is a former Trustee of the San Diego Veterans Memorial and Museum in Balboa Park, serves as director and secretary of No Men Left Behind Ministries, and senior Bible instructor with the Navigators Military Ministry at Camp Pendleton. As the grand marshal, Mr. Lickness will lead the parade while it travels throughout Downtown Murrieta, with participants making their way to Town Square Park and its 2,021 full-sized American flags at the Field of Honor.
The City is proud to show gratitude to our very own hometown heroes and thank all the men and women who have fought for this nation’s freedom. We invite the community to join us and line the streets with patriotism as we come together for our veterans.
