Gary Myrick and I go way back. In the early days of Gary Myrick & the Figures, I was a big fan and went to shows at places like the old Starwood in Hollywood. Then Gary played at a venue I worked at down in Escondido called "The Distillery East".
After I got into radio, Gary and I did a series of interviews over the years, including his coming on Radio 94/5 to kick off this alt format back in 2014 along with other artist friends like Dave Wakeling, Grant Lee Phillips, Glen Phillips, and Stan Ridgway all in my first week doing mornings here at KMYT.
Recently Gary came across a brilliant high quality recording of one of his early shows in Texas. I played a track off this newly released-for-the-first-time recording a few weeks ago and today I'm going to play another great live track. "Ever Since The World Began" The song he kicked off this great live set with.
