Last Sunday, thanks to my good friend Kathy, I had the pleasure of traveling to Dodger stadium to see the Dodgers play. What a Day it was!
I got to see future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw pitch, and I got to see the Dodgers finish off a 4 game SWEEP of the Giants!
I also learned a couple of tips about traveling to...and being at, Dodger stadium.
First, if at all possible- don't drive! Take the train! It's fun, easy and the when you get off the train in downtown L.A. there are FREE shuttles to take you right up into the stadium parking lot and near the gates. Much less hassle especially with traffic. After the game we were on a bus and out of the stadium park lot in less than 15 minutes!
Second, arrive early! You can walk a couple of blocks and have brunch somewhere in Olvera Street- a historic street in downtown Los Angeles, and a part of El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument. Then when you get to the stadium give your self time to see all the exhibits, attractions, and photo ops. Give yourself at least an hour before first pitch- there is so much to see and do!
I was lucky enough to sit in amazing field level seats (thank you again Kathy!), but if you go to a day game like I did, prepare to sit in the hot sun. Bring water (it is allowed in unopened bottles), wear cool clothing, and if you have a little battery power fan, bring that too! Don't forget sunscreen!
It can be an expensive day, if you aren't prepared, so try to make it reasonable by only buying what you really want. I have heard there is a "discount" merch store somewhere in the stadium, but I haven't found that yet. Next time I go, I'll search and let you know.
Go Dodgers!
