The following event info comes from my friend Melody Brunsting:
Grammy Award winner Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band will perform a fundraising concert Saturday, October 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Temecula Valley High School Performing Arts Center.
As one of the premier music score composers in Hollywood, Goodwin’s credits include The Incredibles,” “The Lion King,” “National Treasure,” “Star Trek: Nemesis,” and “Ratatouille.“
The band recently headlined at the Hollywood Bowl and is coming to Temecula to support the Holocaust Remembrance Foundation of the Valley which is building an Educational Memorial in Murrieta at Town Square Park.
In December 2017, the foundation began the mission of building the memorial after Murrieta’s city council unanimously approved their project and designated space near the other memorials in Murrieta Town Square Memorial Park.
“Why Murrieta? After World War II many Jewish people, including many Holocaust survivors, moved from Los Angeles and settled in a quiet community surrounding Murrieta Hot Springs. They were instrumental in developing the city of Murrieta and building the first synagogue here. Their memory lives on in this city,” Pastor Jack Flournoy.
The Holocaust Memorial will be focused on education and is designed with 10-foot vertical by six-foot panels that will tell the story of anti-Semitism throughout history.
Band members include vocalist Vangie Gunn, and musicians Eric Marienthal, Sal Lozano, Brian Scanlon, Jeff Driscoll, Jay Mason, Kevin Garren, Andy Martin, Charlie Morillas, Francisco Torres, Will Brahm, Ray Brinker, Kevin Axt, Joey DeLeon, and Craig Gosnell.
Tickets for the event range from $50-$100 and are available online at: bit.ly/ggbigphatband
