The recent "Same Same But Different" was an amazing event, and an amazing effort to overcome the weather challenges of that weekend. The hurricane off the coast of SoCal brought heavy winds and rain, but between all that crazy weather, almost all the headlines on the main stages of the festival got to play for the crowd. It was a huge effort by the promoter and crew to make all this happen.
One slight causality was that the band California Honeydrops had their major stage performance cancel due to an isolated rainstorm right before they were supposed to play. The band didn't load their gear on stage, so when the rain stopped they were left standing around in the backstage artist parking lot.
So the band decided to get what instruments they could play with amplification and performed an impromptu set for a few dozen of us lucky folks who happen to be nearby. It was a great commitment to music that deserves recognition.. and a spin of their new single "In Your Arms" on the Dose.
