It was a WILD Super Wild Card Weekend for sure. Here's what I learned.
The 49ers are still the best second half team in the NFL. The turned a one point halftime deficit in to a blowout against Seattle.
The Spanos Curse continues. Many people (myself included) don't want to see the Chargers win after the way Spanos slithered out of San Diego. So not only was their one point loss to the Jags satisfying to we Charger Haters, it was HUMILIATING for the team. They blew a 27-0 lead- the third largest in NFL postseason history and became the ONLY team in NFL history to have a +5 turnover ratios and lose a playoff game.
The Dolphins may be out, but their narrow loss shows that they have character and I believe, will be back and even stronger next year. The Bills also looked beatable. That should encourage Bengals fans, who face them next.
The Bengals almost didn't get the chance! If not for a 98 yard fumble recovery for a Bengals TD and a tipped ball barely missed in the end zone on the last play of the game, the Ravens might have pulled off the upset.
The Vikings are NOT a second half team. Second half of the game or second half of the season. They have serious work to do on their Defense for next year. The Giants should not have won this game...but that is why you play those games.
The weekend concludes tonight with Dallas at Tampa Bay. The winner plays my 49ers next Sunday.
