Today I write about my third demo paddle I'm trying out: the Selkirk Invikta Power Air Vanguard Midweight. It looks like the Vanguard 52 (my review #1) but the handle and the actual paddle is slightly longer.
I like this better than the standard size and I also like the lack of edge guard around the paddle surface. That lack of protective edge prevents some of those whacky miss hits when you don't hit the ball in the "sweet spot".
I'm still not a fan of the "hole" at the base of the paddle surface. I know it is made to make the paddle move faster for more power, but I sometimes hit and serve with my fingers up on the back of the paddle (kind of like a ping pong paddle grip). it's not a good idea to have your fingers stick through the whole if you have to block a hot smash return or if you are about the bang yourself. I would still recommend this paddle for players who use a normal grip.
