"Dwight's Daily Dose of New Music": Eric Hutchinson Sings "Sad Songs"

I started working with Eric Hutchinson a decade ago doing private listener concerts out in Santa Barbara, so I'm always excited when he has new music.

Here's info on his latest from Play Mpe:

Singer/songwriter Eric Hutchinson is feeling nostalgic as he prepares to spend 2023 celebrating the 15th anniversary of his debut album, Sounds Like This. “It’s a special record for me - one that changed my life, my career, and introduced my music to a new audience I could only have dreamt of,” the Takoma Park, MD native reflects. To commemorate the anniversary, Eric has announced that he will be playing shows all year long, performing the album in its entirety. He’s also revealed that Sounds Like This will finally be available on vinyl for the first time ever. Furthering the deep-dive into his past, Eric also released a new single, “Sad Songs”, a forgotten pop tune he wrote and performed regularly on tour in 2008 but never got the chance to record until now.

“Sad Songs has been a single 15 years in the making." Hutchinson recalls, "I performed the song regularly during my non-stop touring in 2008 while promoting my album Sounds Like This. As I celebrate the 15th anniversary of that album, I decided to finally record Sad Songs."  Eric brought his original touring band from 2008 into the studio to play bass and drums.

Hutchinson notes, "I reached out to some of my talented pals like Allen Stone, Clyde Lawrence, and Huntertones, who helped me finally capture how I’d be hearing Sad Songs in my head for so many years! "

Sad Songs (Feat. Allen Stone, Clyde Lawrence, and Huntertones) is OUT NOW!
