Major League Baseball will once again see some rule changes before the start of next season. The league's competition committee approved multiple changes, including reducing the pitch clock that was introduced in the 2023 season. Pitchers will now have 18 seconds to start their motion with a runner on base, down from 20 seconds last season. The pitch clock led to the average game time dropping by 24 minutes. Other changes will see the runner's lane between home plate and first base will be widened and the number of mound visits being reduced from five to four per game.
No word yet on when the electronic strike zone will be implemented.
