The City of Temecula has E-Bike info...and as an E-Bike rider (se mine below), this is info I can use and I hope you can too:
Recently, deputies responded to a report of a traffic collision with major injuries near North General Kearny Road and Nicolas Road involving juveniles on an electric motorcycle. You can learn about this accident at: Southwest Sheriff's Station. As we keep those involved in our thoughts and hearts, the City of Temecula strongly recommends that parents of e-bike and e-motorcycle riders have discussions with their teenagers and adolescents about road safety. The City likewise reminds drivers to be extra alert as the popularity of e-bikes and e-motorcycles continues to grow.
Did you know an “e-bike” without pedals is an electrical motorcycle and cannot be legally operated by unlicensed youth on public roads?
To operate an electric motorcycle legally you need the following:
•A valid motorcycle license issued by the DMV. 36% of motorcycle fatalities involve an unlicensed rider.
•A DOT certified motorcycle helmet. 41% of motorcycle fatalities are not wearing a helmet.
•Minimum liability motorcycle insurance.
•Valid registration on the e-motorcycle.
