Fundraiser For Non Profit Dedicated To Preserving Alternative Music History

There's a pretty cool fundraising event for a non profit dedicated to preserving classic alternative artists and history.

Alternative Music Hall of Fame™ honors the legends of alternative music from various subgenres including (but not limited to): punk, post-punk, new wave, ska, two-tone, synth-pop, gothic rock, new romantic, revival rockabilly, grunge, alternative rock, revival mod, reggae, rocksteady, alternative metal, dark wave, 1960's-1970s early influencers, Britpop, surf rock, indie rock, post-rock, post-grunge, alternative hip hop, experimental, emo, and electronic rock.

Some of the greatest musicians and artists of the past five decades will receive their just recognition thanks to the Alternative Music Hall of Fame. Mainstream media has been slow to accept the impact that genres such as punk, new wave, goth and ska have had on music.

From the official website www.althall.org:

The Alternative Music Hall of Fame™ will become the World's Preeminent Alternative Music supporting not for profit organization. We are the curator of controlled chaos. The Alt Hall™ honors the legends of alternative music from various sub-genres including (but not limited to): punk, post-punk, new wave, ska, two-tone, synth-pop, gothic rock, new romantic, revival rockabilly, grunge, alternative rock, revival mod, reggae, rocksteady, alternative metal, dark wave, 1960's-1970s early influencers, Britpop, surf rock, indie rock, post-rock, post-grunge, alternative hip hop, experimental, emo, and electronic rock.

Alt Hall™ has three categories of inductees including: Alternative Music Legendary Artists (individuals and bands according to recipients chosen genre), Alternative Music Legendary Albums & Songs, and Alternative Music Industry Legends.

OUR MISSION IS TWO FOLD:

Help guide young artists to make the right decisions and get the tools they need to succeed in today's music industry.

Artist Resource Center:

-Legal & Contractual Advice From Music Attorneys

-Resources to Obtain Equipment, Instruments, Lessons, and Recording Studio Time

-Coordination of Mentoring From Industry Veterans

And of course, Alt Hall™ is working toward raising money to plan and build the Alternative Music Hall of Fame Museum, a physical museum that honors our inductees and educates the public about alternative music. Our curated collections will feature items that are indicative of our inductees and feature interactive exhibitions featuring massive library of records and record players to listen to music, instruments and technology to try out. Immersive video on large screens will allow attendees to choose and watch music videos featuring our inductees. Young bands can utilize our indoor and outdoor concert halls for concerts, and utilize our Artist Resource Center.

Our main commemoration is an annual in-person and streamed induction awards ceremony featuring live music and video feeds from inductees from all over the planet. Our 2024 Induction Awards Ceremony will take place at a Los Angeles venue in December 2024. Details will be announced to our members first to sponsor an artist experience with tickets to attend. The striped down ceremony will not have photographers flashing as artists walk in, no glitz, our stage set up will be like going back in time to the venue where the artists first played. Music will be the emphasis.

Artist nominees must have 20 years of contribution to alternative music genres (2004 or before formation for 2024 Induction Class). What makes an alternative artist legendary? Our final inductee criteria consists of 25% talent, 25% creativity, 25% impact, and 25% influence on alternative music and it's community. Final selections will be chosen by our 2024 Inductions Committee made up of artists, historians, and members of the music industry by June 8, 2024. Artists may not vote for themselves. Commercial success or lack thereof is not a voting factor. Alt Hall's™ not for profit management cannot vote for artists to keep voting democratic. Remaining completely transparent and democratic are the main goals for Alt Hall's voting systems.

2024 Induction Class Nominee Fan/Member voting ends May 27, 2024 (represents 20% of Nomination decision.) Final induction voting by industry experts and artists ends June 8, 2024. Final inductees will be announced at the 2024 Induction Ceremony in December 2024 in Los Angeles. Details to be announced.

"Alternative music is music that hasn't yet achieved a mainstream audience, Alternative isn't new wave any more, it's a disposition of mind. Alternative music is any kind of music that has the potential to reach a wider audience. It also has real strength, real quality, real excitement, and it has to be socially significant."

—Mark Josephson, Executive Director of the New Music Seminar, 1988
