The City of Temecula City Council recently approved Temecula’s FY25 $99.2M Annual General Fund Operating Budget (AOB) and five-year FY25-29 $927.2M Capital Improvement Program Budget (CIP); both are effective July 1, 2024.
The Capital Improvement Program Budget includes 110 separate projects, totaling $927.2M in project costs. Temecula City Manager Aaron Adams states, “This is the largest capital improvement program budget in the City’s history, and approximately 64% of the funding is sourced from external opportunities such as federal and state grants, and regional funding.” Adams expressed his pride in the City’s diligent efforts to secure grants and various outside funding sources for the residents of Temecula. A few popular projects planned for the upcoming fiscal year and throughout 2025 include:
•Santa Gertrudis Creek Trail Undercrossing at Margarita Road •Design enhancements to the Ynez Road/La Paz Road roundabout •Completion of the NB Interstate 15 French Valley Parkway Phase 2 construction •Completion of a new NB Interstate 15 auxiliary lane from Temecula Parkway to Rancho Cal Road •Pavement Rehabilitation: Rainbow Canyon Road from Pechanga Parkway to the southern City limits Butterfield Stage Road (south of Temecula Parkway) Pechanga Parkway (south of Temecula Parkway) •North General Kearny widening between Camino Campos Verde and La Colima Road •Ynez Road widening between Tierra Vista and Rancho Vista Road •Interstate 15 Temecula Parkway Interchange landscaping •Construction of the Nicolas Road extension and multi-use trail •New sidewalks including: 6th Street (Old Town Front Street to Mercedes) Pauba Road (La Primavera to Showalter Road) •Construction of new splash pad and shade structures at Ronald J. Parks Community Recreation Center •Construction of a new dog park at Michael Naggar Community Park •New permanent restroom facilities at Long Canyon Creek Park and Vail Ranch Park. •Construction of 17 new dedicated pickleball courts at Ronald Reagan Sports Park •Reconstruction of the hockey rink at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, plus new arena style roof structure •Reconstruction of the skate park at Ronald Reagan Sports Park •Completion of the Temecula Creek Wildfire Risk Reduction Community Plan •Enhanced fencing along north side of Temecula Creek (Pechanga Parkway to Jedediah Smith Road) •Building improvements to Fire Station 84 on Pauba Road •Library technology enhancements •Expansion of Harveston Park Community Center
The City recently completed construction of the brand new Margarita Recreation Center (MRC) encompassing an 8,500 square foot state-of-the-art building for intergenerational and special needs programming and, on the outside, a zero-depth entry 25-yard community pool. For FY25, the Temecula Community Services District budget is $20.6M and offers a vast array of inclusive programs, parades, signature events, community facilities and 42 beautifully maintained public parks all focused on Creating Community through People, Parks, and Programs. The newly built MRC is fully paid off with no facility debt and is among the many amenities aimed at enhancing the high quality of life for residents in Temecula.
