I Found Another "Speakeasy": It's Called The Grass Skirt

In my continuing quest to bring you new and interesting and unusual things to explore, I present another "speakeasy" establishment.

"Speakeasys" are themed bar / restaurants that you usually have to go through a secret door of another business to get to.

Awhile back I explored and blogged about "The Mother Ship" A space travel themed speakeasy just north of downtown San Diego.

Today, my friends told me about and got me to go to a speakeasy down in Pacific Beach called "The Grass Skirt."

It is a Tiki Bar island themed speakeasy with exotic drinks and food. We went right when they opened at 5PM as the first hour is "happy hour" half priced drinks. My favorite drink was the Panda's Pandan Colada, although between the 4 of us we tried several different drinks.. all tasty and most quite fancy in presentation.

The way in is through a functioning fully staffed kitchen, where after you enter the kitchen they direct you to a giant walk in freezer door- this is your "secret entry" in to "The Grass Skirt"

I highly recommend this place...and now on to my next speakeasy adventure...
