It's also National Vinyl Record Day, which technically marks the day Thomas Edison was credited with inventing the phonograph back in 1877. Vinyl, as a whole, exited the mainstream in the early '90s. However, it proved it was down but not out with sales on the rise now for more than a decade. As recently as 2020, more vinyl records were sold than CDs.
