New Film Review: "It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley"

A new and definitive film about the life and times of possibly the best singer of his generation (and many surprising guests in this film say so), although his life was cut so tragically short just before embarking on recording his second album, Jeff Buckley was simply the most amazing voice. This film does meander in the melancholy but also displays that range, power, gentleness, and artistry of his voice, along with Jeff's story, told by his mother and two of the other closest females in his life.

There is much you may not have known before this film, even if you were a devout fan.

His one album "Grace" was listed in the Top 100 albums of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine.

His story in this film is human, soaring, and tragic. From his brief relationship with his father (famous folk singer Tim Buckley), to his establishment as a better singer and songwriter than his famous dad, to the difficulties handling stardom, and his personal relationships with women, most notably his mom.

This movie is worth watching just for the music itself, but the story will captivate you into missing Jeff as much as so many who knew him.

It is in release now in theaters throughout southern California.

I got a copy of "Grace" when it was released and it is still one of my most treasured music collection.

Below is the trailer and 2 songs that will both inspire you and break your heart.

This was Jeff Buckley.
