Blake Snell pitched brilliantly and it looked like the Dodgers would cruise to a 4-1 victory in the NLDS and take a commanding 2-0 lead in this best of five series.
...but then came the 9th...and the bullpen nightmare.
In what could have been Dave Roberts' worst managerial decision of his career, he left Roki Sasaki sitting on the bench and sent Blake Treinen (yes THAT Blake Treinen with the 1-7 record and an era north fo 11) in to pitch the 9th...resulting in a single and a double and another double and the Dodger on the verge of blowing a 3 run lead....
Roberts had to use BOTH Alex Vesia and Roki Sasaki to finish off the game with the Dodgers barely squeeking out a 4-3 victory when he could have just cruised to a win by putting in Sasaki to start the 9th.
Let's hope Doc learned his lesson and makes better decisions when the teams get back to L.A. for Game 3 on Wednesday.
