Here's one of my Thanksgiving memories:
Early in my radio career, the best way to "break in" to the business and get on the air, was to work holidays like Thanksgiving, when all the veterans wanted the day off.
My first proffessional radio gig gave me that opportunity, so I took it. I drove south of the border into TJ, becuase that's where the first radio station I worked at had the transmitter and on air studio. Up a stone covered dirt road to a broadcast shack on the top of hill. Nobody n the building but me. I did this for several year in that "first radio gig"- in fact I did it for a decade.
Of course now that I am a radio veteran......
Wait....
I'm on the air right now.....
So I guess some things never change....
Join me on the air now will ya? It's more than a tradition for me...
on a hill in a cement bunker in another country- Thanksgiving on the job...at least today I get to work in California...
