More celebrated in Sweden as Våffeldagen, this day marks the beginning of spring and is celebrated by the eating of many waffles. As for the American alternative, which falls on August 24th, Waffle Day honors the anniversary of the patenting of the first waffle iron invented by Cornelius Swarthout.
Whichever day you choose to make “official,” it doesn’t matter – simply take the opportunity to enjoy these remarkable dough-based gridded cakes. After all, they can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner, snack or dessert. And then there is that whole other business of the potato waffle, which is different but equally delectable.
This is a German Waffle..delicious!
